TERMS & CONDITIONS

Gift Vouchers, Booking Deposits & Cake/Flower Orders — Payments Processed via Peach Payments

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to The Chefs’ Table. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the purchase of gift vouchers, the payment of booking and private function deposits, and the pre-ordering of celebration cakes and flowers from The Chefs’ Table (“we”, “us”, “our”), together with the online and telephonic card payment facility — powered by Peach Payments and processed via Nedbank — used to pay for any of these. By purchasing a gift voucher, paying a deposit, placing a cake or flower order, and/or making a payment through this facility, you (“you”, “the customer”, “the purchaser” or “the holder”, as applicable) accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not proceed with your purchase, booking, order, or payment.

1 GENERAL

The Chefs’ Table offers the following, each of which may be purchased or paid for in person, telephonically, or via our website or email, and processed through our card payment facility: (a) gift vouchers, redeemable for dining experiences at our restaurant; (b) deposits to secure a table reservation or private function; and (c) pre-orders for celebration cakes and/or flowers or table décor. We aim to process and confirm orders and payments within 24 to 48 hours of payment being received; orders placed over weekends or public holidays are processed on the next business day.

2 ELIGIBILITY

You must be 18 years or older and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to make any purchase, booking, or payment covered by these Terms. You must ensure that the card or payment method used belongs to you, or that you are authorised to use it, and that all details you provide — including your full name, email address, and contact number — are accurate and complete. We may request proof of identity (such as a South African ID or passport) or proof of payment where reasonably necessary to verify a transaction or resolve a dispute.

3 Payment Processing — Peach Payments

All card payments made under these Terms, whether for a gift voucher, a deposit, or a cake or flower order, are processed securely by Peach Payments, a licensed third-party payment service provider, via Nedbank. Peach Payments is PCI DSS Level 1 certified and uses advanced security measures, including 3D Secure authentication, tokenisation, and encryption, to protect your card details. We do not receive, view, or store your full card number, expiry date, or CVV; these are captured and processed directly on Peach Payments’ secure infrastructure. You should never share a one-time PIN (OTP), password, or full card details with any person, including our staff — we will never ask you to do so over the phone or by email. We are not responsible for, and do not control, the technical operation, availability, or security architecture of the Peach Payments platform, though we select and work only with providers that meet industry security standards.

4 Gift Vouchers

4.1 Purchase & Delivery

Gift vouchers are redeemable exclusively for dining experiences — food and beverage — at our restaurant in Umhlanga Village, KwaZulu-Natal. Vouchers are issued electronically via email or, on request, as a printed gift card. Gift vouchers are delivered to the email address (or mobile number, whereapplicable) supplied by the purchaser at the time of purchase, and it is the purchaser’s responsibility to ensure these details are correct and up to date. The Chefs’ Table accepts no liability for a voucher that is lost, delayed, or misdirected as a result of incorrect information supplied by the purchaser.

4.2 Redemption

Vouchers are redeemable exclusively at The Chefs’ Table, Umhlanga Village, and may not be used at any other restaurant, including other venues within our restaurant group. Vouchers may be redeemed against food and beverage purchases only and do not cover gratuities. We strongly recommend making a reservation in advance; please present your voucher (electronically or printed) to your host or server upon arrival, or quote the voucher code when booking. Vouchers may be used to pay for all or part of a bill. Where the voucher value exceeds the bill total, the remaining balance stays on the voucher for use on a future visit, until the voucher expires. Vouchers may not be redeemed or exchanged for cash, in whole or in part, except where required by law.

4.3 Validity

Gift vouchers are valid for three (3) years from the date of purchase, in accordance with the South African Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008. The expiry date will be indicated on the voucher. Expired vouchers, and any unused balance on them, will not be accepted, honoured, refunded, or replaced.

4.4 No Refunds or Returns

All gift voucher purchases are final once payment has been successfully processed. Vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be returned or exchanged for cash, even if lost, stolen, damaged, or unused, except where required by South African consumer protection law. For the avoidance of doubt, the notice-based cancellation and refund provisions in clause 9 below apply only to booking/function deposits and cake or flower pre-orders, and do not apply to gift vouchers.

4.5 Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Vouchers

The Chefs’ Table is not responsible for gift vouchers that are lost, stolen, or damaged after delivery. Where a voucher was purchased directly from us and proof of purchase (such as a receipt or order confirmation) can be provided, we will use reasonable efforts to assist in tracing or, at our discretion, reissuing the voucher, subject to verification.

5 Booking & Private Function Deposits

We may require a deposit, paid through our card payment facility, to secure a table reservation for a large group, a set-menu evening, a public holiday booking, or a private function. The deposit amount and due date will be communicated to you at the time of booking. The deposit forms part of, and will be deducted from, your final bill on the day of your reservation or function. A booking is only confirmed once the required deposit has been successfully received.

6 Cake & Flower Pre-Orders

Customers may pre-order a celebration cake and/or flowers or table décor for collection, or for placement in the restaurant ahead of their visit. Full payment for cake and flower pre-orders is required at the time of order to confirm and secure the order. We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for standard cake and flower orders; bespoke or larger orders may require additional notice, which will be communicated to you at the time of order. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate specific requests (flavour, design, flower selection) but cannot guarantee an exact match to any reference image or sample, given the handmade and seasonal nature of these items.

7 Reservations, Cancellations & Special Occasions

Reservations made using a gift voucher, or secured with a deposit, are subject to our standard booking and cancellation policies. The Chefs’ Table reserves the right to require advance notice for large groups, set-menu evenings, or public holidays, and to apply standard restaurant policies (such as no-show or late-cancellation charges) to any booking, regardless of how it was paid for.

8 Card & Payment Security

All card transactions made under these Terms are protected by 3D Secure authentication and PCI DSS Level 1 compliant processing, as described in clause 3. If you suspect a payment made through this facility was fraudulent or unauthorised, please contact us and your card issuer immediately.

9 Cancellations, Refunds & No-Shows (Deposits and Cake/Flower Pre-Orders)

This clause applies to booking and function deposits and to cake and flower pre-orders only, and does not apply to gift voucher purchases (see clause 4.4). If you cancel or reschedule 48 hours or more before your reservation, function date, or the agreed collection/delivery date, we will refund your deposit or pre-order payment in full. If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or fail to arrive for your reservation or function without notice (a no-show), your deposit or pre-order payment will be forfeited, or, at our discretion, may be held as credit toward a future booking or order. We may, at our sole discretion, waive or reduce a forfeiture in exceptional circumstances.

10 Failed, Declined & Disputed Transactions

We do not control, and are not responsible for, a card issuer’s or Peach Payments’ decision to decline, delay, or flag a transaction. Where a payment fails or is declined, no booking, order, or voucher will be confirmed or reserved until a successful payment has been received and confirmed. Raising a chargeback or payment dispute in bad faith, where goods or services were validly supplied or a booking validly honoured, may result in us recovering the disputed amount and any associated costs from you, and may affect your ability to make future bookings with us.

11 REFUND PROCESSING

Where a refund is due under these Terms, it will be processed back to the original card or payment method used, via Peach Payments. Refunds may take up to 10 business days to reflect in your account, depending on your card issuer or bank’s own processing times, which are outside our control. We are unable to process a refund in cash or to a different card, account, or person than the one used to make the original payment.

12 CURRENCY & PRICING

All prices are quoted and processed in South African Rand (ZAR). Prices for gift vouchers, deposits, cakes, and flowers may change from time to time without notice; the price applicable to your transaction is the price confirmed to you at the time your payment is successfully processed.

13 FRAUD PREVENTION

We reserve the right to refuse, delay, or reverse any transaction, or to refuse to accept or honour any gift voucher, we reasonably suspect to be fraudulent, duplicated, altered, unauthorised, or otherwise obtained or used unlawfully, and to withhold a booking, voucher, cake, or flower order pending verification. We may request proof of purchase or identification before honouring a transaction where fraud is suspected.

14 limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Chefs’ Table accepts no liability for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the purchase, delivery, or use of a gift voucher, or from the processing, delay, failure, or security of a payment made through Peach Payments, except to the extent such loss arises from our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy you may have under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, or other applicable South African law.

15 PRIVACY

Your card details are captured and processed directly by Peach Payments and are not received or stored by us. We receive and retain only confirmation of successful payment, the last four digits of your card, and a transaction reference, for the purpose of processing, delivering, and administering your voucher, deposit, or order. Personal information you provide to us directly (such as your name, email address, and contact number) is used solely for the purpose of processing, delivering, and administering your purchase, and is handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). We will not share your information with third parties except as required to fulfil your transaction or as required by law.

16 CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

The Chefs’ Table reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will apply to purchases, bookings, and payments made after the date of the change, and will be made available on request or on our website. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

17 GOVERNING LAW & JURISDICTION

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of KwaZulu-Natal.
